While earning his BA from Dickinson College, Steve focused on research and writing while also taking acting classes. American Historical Theatre brought Steve on board as Thomas Jefferson in 1999, He immediately loved how the work of first-person interpretation combined his love of reading, writing, and theatre with travel and teaching. He has continued to learn more and hone his interpretation of Jefferson throughout more than two decades in walking much more than a mile in the shoes of the author of the Declaration of Independence. His continual process of learning includes a Research Fellowship at Monticello’s Robert H.Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies.
Steve has interpreted Thomas Jefferson at venues and for clients that include Monticello; The FBI; The US National Archives in DC and NYC; Independence National Historical Park’s Independence Hall, Declaration House, Congress Hall, and City Tavern; The Smithsonian Institution, National Constitution Center, University of Virginia, Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, Carpenter’s Hall, numerous middle and high schools and colleges, and for professional improvement seminars for teachers and Continuing Legal Education seminars for lawyers and judges at locations across the United States.
