Ian Rose combines acting talent with stage combat excellence and crafts dynamic scripts that feature both physical and dramatic conflict. A consistently working actor since 1981, with a BA in Acting from Western Illinois University, Mr. Rose describes his introduction to fencing at WIU as life-changing and declares his dedication to all 8 main disciplines of stage combat, including hand-to-hand, to be obsessive. In addition to certification as a Fight Director and Fight Instructor for the Society of American Fight Directors and Fight Directors Canada, Ian is a Certified Fight Master with Fight Directors Canada, as well as earning his black belt in karate in 2006.
Mr. Rose’s classical acting talents were honed in productions by New York companies such as Theater 1010, Riverside Shakespeare, Survivor Productions, Intar Theatre, Kindred Productions; and as part of greater Philadelphia area companies that include Arcadia Shakespeare Festival, Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, and Commonwealth Classic Theatre. Ian has performed and directed in Scotland and England, MTM Studios in Italy and in Banff, Canada. Brought into AHT in 2001 by William Sommerfield, Ian has performed at venues that include Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, National Constitution Center, Congress Hall, Trenton Patriots Week, State Department Amphitheatre, Smithsonian Institution, National Archives, Morven Museum & Garden, and The Grange. Recently, Mr. Rose was featured on the People’s Court television show in an authentic re-enactment of an Alexander Hamilton case.
